Below is our short list of Iris reticulata (dwarf iris) species which will be available in the autumn of this year. Dwarf irises are deer resistant and as reliable as crocuses in coming back year after year, and bloom just shortly after the crocuses. They will naturalize very slowly if in suitable conditions (rich, well drained soil).

These elegantly sculpted little beauties are surprisingly tough, making their appearance in late winter (late Jan- early Feb. here in the Comox Valley), and always delighting us with their early arrival and charm. Elegant blossoms of rich, deep velvety purple are etched with blazes of and white and a splash of gold. Plant in a sunny location in well drained soil- they are tolerant of poor soils and will naturalize beautifully. Can also be forced indoors on a windowsill in late winter. 6”

Iris x hollandica ‘Tiger Mix’
These beautiful hybrids are a stunning collection of blue, bronze, lilac, pink and purple blooms, all with striking tiger stripe and yellow edge detailing. Plant in full sun in well-drained to dryish soils where they can bake in the summer months when dormant. Overplant the area with heat loving ground covers. Blooming in late spring they make excellent long-lasting cut flowers. 18-22”
